FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Questions we get asked

If the answer you need is not here, call and ask. We would rather talk it through than have you guess.

Which devices does my vehicle need?

The Massachusetts requirement covers four: lateral protective devices (side guards), convex mirrors, a crossover mirror, and a backup camera system. It applies to Class 3 and above vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers rated 10,001 lbs GVWR or more.

Whether all four apply to a specific vehicle depends on its configuration — a cab-over, for example, has a very different forward blind zone from a long-hood conventional. Call with the vehicle details rather than ordering all four and finding out at fitment.

Do you install outside Massachusetts?

The install work is Massachusetts-based and the vehicles come to us. The regulations we certify against are Massachusetts regulations.

Driver gear ships nationwide, so the apparel side is open wherever you are.

What is in an installation record?

It identifies the vehicle, lists the devices fitted, and records that the installation was carried out and checked. It is the document you produce when somebody asks you to demonstrate the vehicle is equipped.

Booked as a full package, you get one record covering all four devices rather than four separate documents produced weeks apart. For a fleet that difference turns out to matter more than most people expect at booking time.

How long is the vehicle off the road?

Mirrors are an hour or two and need no lift. Side guards are most of a working day for a two-side fit. A backup camera is most of a day on a straight truck and longer on a tractor-trailer, because the connection between units has to be done properly rather than spliced.

All four together is a single scheduled visit rather than the sum of those, because the work sequences: the camera harness is run while the vehicle is already up for the side guards.

How does hi-vis sizing run?

Our hi-vis apparel is cut to be worn over what you already have on. If you expect to wear a jacket over a hoodie or a mid-layer through the winter, take your normal size — the room is already built in.

Sizes are stocked and sold individually, so a crew ordering a range of sizes is not buying a pack and discarding half of it.

What do Class 2, Class 3 and Class E mean?

They are performance classes under ANSI/ISEA 107, and they describe how much retroreflective and background material a garment carries and where.

Class 2 suits lower-speed environments. Class 3 carries more material with sleeves, for higher-speed roadway work and poor light. Class E covers trousers and bibs, which count toward a Class 3 ensemble when worn with a Class 2 or 3 top. Every garment on the site states its class on its own page.

How fast does gear ship, and can I return it?

Driver gear is stocked and dispatched by us, with same-day dispatch on orders placed before 3PM Eastern on a business day. It ships nationwide.

Unworn gear in its original condition can be returned. Call or email before sending anything back so we can tell you where to send it and make sure the right order gets credited.

Can you handle a whole fleet?

Yes, and the scheduling is the part worth talking about early. Most fleets can only release one or two vehicles at a time, so the work gets sequenced around your rotation rather than asking you to park everything.

Vehicle mix affects the schedule more than vehicle count: a run of identical trailers moves quickly because the fitment repeats, while a yard of mixed tractors and vocational chassis needs each one measured. Send the list and we will come back with a sequence.

Why don't I see prices on everything?

Install work is quoted rather than listed, because what it costs depends on the vehicle. What is bolted to your frame rail decides how a side guard mounts, and no honest number can be given without knowing that.

Call (603) 453-5961 with the vehicle details and you will get a real figure rather than a range.
